Practice English and presentation skills with TED
TED.com is a website featuring videos of short presentations (3, 6, and 20 minutes) on various topics. The content is usually very interesting, and watching TED videos is a good way to see excellent presenters in action.
If you want to learn how to present better, watch TED talks and see what the speakers do.
The TED website has a few useful features for language learners.
Each talk has subtitles. All talks have English subtitles, and many of them have subtitles in other languages too (including Japanese).
2. Interactive transcript
Each talk also has an interactive transcript. This is very useful. You can click on the transcript to jump to the point in the video where the speaker says that sentence.
A good way to study with the TED website is to watch an interesting talk several times. The first time, watch with subtitles in your native language, so that you can understand the content. The second time, watch with English subtitles. The third time, watch with no subtitles.
You can also practice by doing 'shadowing'. Shadowing is when you try to speak at the same time as the speaker, imitating their accent, intonation, and emotion. It is a great way to practice speaking.
